WorktoJob - A Career Route App

I have always been obsessed with the world of work. Like many in my generation, I struggled to bridge the gap between my passion, livelihood, and societal value. This drive led to WorktoJob, my first major iteration in exploring the future of work. My mission was simple, to democratize information and give everyone the power to find meaning through the work they find.

Designed as a 'Google Maps for careers,' WorktoJob was a mobile app that provided personalized, step-by-step pathways for job seekers. I utilized rapid prototyping and early machine learning, back when we still called it ML, than AI to create a highly intuitive user experience.

While the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, I encountered a fundamental market reality. Information alone isn’t enough. I discovered a disconnect in the student lifecycle:

Year 1: High curiosity and engagement.
Year 2: Distraction and the desire to "enjoy youth."
Year 3: Panic and high anxiety, where a single app felt like too little, too late.

Ultimately, the model wasn't interesting enough. We'd end up being a blog of courses, or ads to navigate away to another space. A wrapper for a Google search. While I considered pivoting to a B2B data provider for universities, I realized that didn't align with my core vision. I chose to shut it down, carrying forward some vital lessons.
